Introduction
You know that feeling when you put something out into the world and think, “Well, I hope someone hears this”? That was me after recording an episode of Social Geek Radio. I showed up, shared my story, and left it in the universe’s hands.
What happened next still blows my mind: someone listened—and then booked me for a speaking engagement. Proof that you never really know who’s paying attention. I might add that this happened- today. I met Jack Monson from Social Geek Radio - a Top 20 Marketing Podcast during my tenure as a speaker for Google at the Internaitonal Franchise Association events- and we built some great rapport around being marketing misfits.

The Magic of Showing Up
Podcasting isn’t just about likes, downloads, or numbers—it’s about connection. You’re in someone’s ears, their space, their moment. It’s personal. And when you show up with intention and authenticity, people notice.
For me, that meant diving into real talk during my episode with Jack Monson on Social Geek Radio. We got into marketing, innovation, automation, and everything in between. No fluff. Just straight insight.
That One Listener Changed Everything
I didn’t expect anything from the podcast—just the joy of having a good conversation with someone who gets it. But someone out there, someone I didn’t know, heard that episode. They liked what I had to say enough to reach out and offer me a speaking slot at their event.
No pitch decks. No outreach. Just me being me, sharing what I know. And that was enough.
What This Taught Me
Here’s what I’ve learned from this experience, and why I’ll never underestimate the power of visibility again:
Your voice matters. Even if you think no one’s listening, someone is.
Authenticity attracts opportunities. When you’re real, people respond to that.
Small steps = big impact. One podcast turned into one speaking gig—which could lead to who knows what next.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t just my story—it’s a reminder to anyone putting their work out there: keep showing up. Keep speaking. Keep sharing. You never know whose ears your voice might land in—and what that might lead to.
